Bartle & Gibson has reached another milestone, as it has been 80 years since Charlie Bartle of Victoria, BC, and Cecil Gibson of Vancouver, BC, each first started a store in their respective city.

Over the past 80 years Bartle & Gibson has expanded into new markets (Alberta, Saskatchewan, North West Territories and new areas of British Columbia), expanded product offerings (electrical and more recently, HVAC), and even acquired new businesses (Triangle Supply) and started our showroom brand (Bartle & Gibson Showrooms).

1944: The Beginning

Bartle & Gibson officially opens its doors for the first time, as Charlie Bartle of Victoria, BC, and Cecil Gibson of Vancouver, BC, each establishing a store in their respective cities.

1951: Expansion to Edmonton

Bartle & Gibson opens its first Edmonton location, marking the company's expansion beyond the British Columbia lower mainland and into the Alberta market.

1960's: Branching Out

Multiple new branches are established in Edmonton, Calgary, Medicine Hat, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Surrey, and even as far north as Yellowknife.

Late 1960's: Strategic Decisions

The company decides to shift its focus to distribution, with brass foundry being sold and the cast iron foundry following suit in the early 1970s.

1983: Diversification into Electrical Products

Bartle & Gibson's Edmonton Head Office becomes the first location to stock and sell electrical products, creating new markets and opportunities for the company.

1991: Showroom Debut

The company opens its first Bartle & Gibson Showroom at the Head Office in Edmonton, Alberta with numerous vignettes and fixture wall displays.

2000: Calgary Showroom

A Bartle & Gibson Showroom is newly opened in Calgary at the previous 19th Street location, further expanding the showroom presence in the Alberta market.

Early 2000's: Island Expansion

Bartle & Gibson Showroom locations expand into Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Saanich on Vancouver Island, marking a new milestone for our showrooms.

2017: West Kelowna Showroom Re-Opening

The company celebrates the grand re-opening of the new West Kelowna location with a brand new Bartle & Gibson Showroom.

2019: 75 Years of Success

Bartle & Gibson commemorates its 75th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the company's history, which was celebrated with customer appreciation events taking place across most branches.

2023: The New Home of Triangle Supply

A few years after acquiring Triangle Supply, there was a grand reopening to celebrate its new home in a 50,000sqft building featuring a Bartle & Gibson Showroom.

Milestones
